Indie Band States Release New EP, Set Up Tour Dates

The melodic trio known as States has released their first EP, Line ‘Em Up. In celebration of their EP, they will be embarking on an East Coast tour, including some dates with Anberlin.

States consists of Mindy White and brothers Bryan and Stephen Laurenson. All members had been extremely successful in other musical endeavors- Mindy as a member of the band Lydia and Bryan and Stephen had both been in Copeland for many years, but decided they wanted to pursue something new. Bryan and Stephen had known Mindy from touring together over the years and remained good friends, all having the same musical interests in common.

“Stephen and I had been writing songs on the side for a couple years, just for fun. We knew that whatever we did next, we would be doing it together,” said Bryan Laurenson. “We had gotten to know Mindy a year earlier when her band had gone on tour with us. We instantly clicked on a musical level, and we knew we had something special.”

The first creation for States, Line ‘Em Up, is a beautiful EP filled with euphonic melodies and charming arrangements. Although fans can hear pieces of Lydia and Copeland intertwined within the notes, the band has brought a new sound to the forefront. Songs like “Anxious” and “Falling For” are immediate favorites with graceful vocals by White and well-orchestrated rhythms by the Laurenson’s.

States is currently embarking on an East Coast tour and will be recording a full length early next year. Expected to be a favorite in 2011, States is ready to make a musical impact.
