Introducing Indie Band Oedipus From Los Angeles

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Oedipus is an alternative/progressive rock power trio who has been topping the Polish Modern Rock charts for over seven months and counting. Their hit singles, “Tres Las” and “Burn It Down”, released as a digital singles in the States back in June 2010, will have you dancing your way into 2011.

With reminiscence of the rock-like melodies of Muse and 311, this is something you don’t want to miss out on.

A three piece making more noise then a three piece rightly should, [Oedipus] manage the type of grandiose, over-sexed, balls out, guitar rock that are both melodic and epic. – ScenePointBlank.com

Oedipus consists of Jeremy Haffner, bass and lead vocals, Stephen Cohen, guitar and vocals, and Keith Larsen, drums and vocals. At the age of thirteen, while studying the Oedipus trilogy in middle school Latin class, these three musicians began using the name exclusively. As Haffner stated in a recent interview with ASCAP, “The symbolism, and relative shock value definitely had something to do with the choice. Also, it’s a great sounding word”.

Oedipus has recently launched a specialty radio campaign with US radio promoters UNCLE and has seen both singles “Tres Las” and “Burn It Down” added to regular rotation on Los Angeles tastemaker Indie 103.1KROQ’s Locals Only program, KUSF in San Francisco, and KMFA Tucson.

The band has also secured many licensing opportunities from their previous records, 2005′s Humbility and their 2008 EP,Covetous. They have had placement in Lion Gate Films’ 2010release Circle of Pain, major motion picture The Contractor, as well as the Showtime series Masters of Horror.

Currently in the wake of this success, “Tres Las” has recently been added to Poland’s first installment of the well-known US mix CD NOW That’s What I Call Music Vol. 1 keeping company with such US Pop icons as Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Ke$ha, to name a few. As well as being charted on Eska Rock’s top 100 songs of 2010, “Tres Las“ #3, and “Burn It Down” at #36.  While achieving mass appeal overseas as many contemporary rock acts such as The White StripesKings of Leon have done before achieving national recognition stateside, Oedipus is ready to take the US by storm in 2011.
