Indie Duo Destry to Release New Album in May

It is easy to find beauty between Boston and Nashville when you combine the brilliantly complex sounds of Destry. The two-piece outfit of Michelle DaRosa and Tyler Odom will be releasing their album, Waiting on an Island, May 3.

Both singers are specialists in bringing out the heart from within the music, conjuring a gorgeous effervescent balance between the two of them. Their songs resonate with organic warmth that defines their sound.

Michelle DaRosa and Tyler Odom have known each other for the better part of ten years but it’s only been in the last two that they have gone from friends to band mates. Both of them experienced success in previous musical acts, Straylight Run and Northstar/Cassino respectively, but their time together in Destry has brought them in a different musical direction.

Old fans and new were introduced to the project with their debut release “It Goes On” in late 2009. The duo believes it is their new record that they recorded in the summer of 2010 that will showcase their capabilities with Destry.

The songs are dreamy, upbeat, 60’s pop beauties that are equal parts charming and engaging. If “It Goes On” was an introduction, then “Waiting on an Island” will be a band-defining album of work that will allow Destry to stand on its own.

Waiting On An Island is an album steeped in hazy dreams, sunny days and the in between.  The result of this work is a gorgeous reverie of sound.

Stand out tracks being “Don’t Break My Heart” which laces a happy-go-lucky, melancholy narrative about the return of painful love which DaRosa sings lead on and “Into The Rain” which Tyler sings about the lulls at the end of a relationship.

Having played shows with Jack’s Mannaquin, We Shot The Moon, The Narrative, O’Brother and more, Michelle and Tyler will also be hitting the road this spring.
