UStream is a cost efficient tool for independent bands and artists to give more than expected to their fans. From impromptu concerts, to exposing a new single or just looking to receive feedback about a track you’re working on, UStream is a great outlet for bands to just simply market themselves.
Why not give your fans the ability to watch you play an acoustic set while they eat lunch? Alex Dezen of The Damnwells actually pulled this off. I don’t know if it’s been done before, but what a great idea. Dezen let fans know about the concert via Facebook and Twitter about 30-minutes before he went live. Fans were quick to respond and log in to their UStream accounts to enjoy the free show. He responded to the live chat and took requests from those who participated.
The long awaited release of a documentary following independent band, The Damnwells, is finally seeing the light of the day at the Music Hall of Williamsburg next Friday, August 28th.
“Many of you have been asking about this documentary for some time,” the band said in a Myspace blog post. “We are happy to announce it is finally here!”
The indie band will also be performing with Dawn Landes as part of the release show.
The DVD, that was directed and edited by Chris Suchorsky and produced by Alex Dezen, Wes Kidd and Chris Suchorsky, will be available for sale during the show.
The film follows The Damnwells through a triumph major label signing with Epic, but shows that dark side of the music industry when they are dropped just as easily as they were picked up.
The Damnwells will be playing a CD release show at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, California on March 15th. The indie rock band is playing the show for their latest release, One Last Century.
The Damnwells have also setup tour dates around the country. The band is led by its core of lead singer/guitarist Alex Dezen and bassist Ted Hudson.

Indie band The Damnwells have posted a collection of albums on their website for their fans’ listening pleasure. All six albums have been applied on their “Releases” page. The five previous albums have available tracks including a spot for the new album, No One Listens to the Band Anymore. According to their site, the album will be released on March 15, 2011.
The band is also giving away a free download of a new track called, “She Goes Around,” when you sign up for their PledgeMusic mailing list.
The Damnwells recently released a video for their first single, “Werewolves,” (Indie Band The Damnwells Showcase Video for New Single) off their forthcoming album, No One Listens To The Band Anymore. The independent band will release the new album via PledgeMusic Records – Poor Man’s Records.
