Spin Includes Pomegranates in Top 30 Artists Playing CMJ, Tour U.S.

Indie band Pomegranates are creating a buzz with their indie alternative rock sound. The band is making a stop at this year’s CMJ Showcase and have been picked as “Best Artist from CMJ” by Spin Magazine.

The Cincinnati, Ohio based band is set to release their third full-length studio album – One Of Us – on October 26th on Afternoon Records.  The new album is their first for Afternoon Records and was co-produced by the band and TJ Lipple of Aloha (MGMT, Headlights, Minus Story), who also mixed and mastered the record.

Indie Duo Voltaire Twins Make U.S. Debut at CMJ

Voltaire Twins will be playing the CMJ Showcase 2010 in New York during their first visit to the states.

This year is shaping up to be a colorful year for Australian synth-pop duo Voltaire Twins. The brother-sister combo recently caught the eye of French tastemaker label Kitsuné, who released their single “D.I.L. (JBAG remix)” worldwide on the Kitsuné x Ponystep worldwide release.

With iTunes adding the duo to their Hotly Tipped For 2010 compilation, the pair, who are already regular features in the blogosphere, have exploded in a swarm of internet hype.

Indie Band Lady Danville Announce Shows at CMJ, Tour with Ben Folds

Lady Danville is an acoustic folk pop trio from Los Angeles, California. Making the trek cross country, the band is thrilled to play 3 shows at the 2010 CMJ Music Marathon leading up to their highly anticipated tour with Ben Folds.

With Michael Garner on keys, Matthew Frankel on the cajon, and Dan Chang on the guitar Lady Danville is most recognized for their well-crafted harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and refreshing dose of energy, wit and charm, evoking the sound of Simon and Garfunkel meets Death Cab for Cutie.

CMJ 2010 Showcase Features a Variety of Indie Music

CMJBig Picture Media will be hosting their 2nd Official CMJ Showcase on October 19 at The Bowery Poetry Club in New York  featuring To Write Love On Her Arms.

The showcase will also feature special performances by Cute Is What We Aim ForThe Bigger LightsThe NarrativeLoomis and The LustJackson Wetherbee Band and Cyndi Harvell.

Come out for one of the best line-ups during CMJ this year! Badge entry is free and $10 for non-badge holders. The show is all-ages and starts at 10pm!

Indie Band Pomegranates Set to Release Third Full-Length Album

PomegranatesCincinnati, Ohio’s Pomegranates are set to release their third full-length studio album – One Of Us – on October 26th on Afternoon Records.  The new album is their first for Afternoon Records and was co-produced by the band and TJ Lipple of Aloha (MGMT, Headlights, Minus Story), who also mixed and mastered the record.  Pomegranates will kick off a U.S. tour on September 15th and the three month long trek which starts off with Colour Revolt, will include a performance at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival.

Formed in 2006, the young indie band quickly distinguished itself with its mesmerizing art-pop compositions, eliciting acclaim from My Old Kentucky Blog (“Sweet, sweet sounds are pop honey to my ears”), massive support from WOXY.com and invitations to tour from the French Kicks, Islands and Jimmy Eat World.

CMJ Music Marathon 2010 Initial Artist Line-Up

CMJThe CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival has announced its first round of performing artists including:

CMJ Music Marathon & SonicScoop Team Up to Present ‘Studio Time’

CMJCMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival 2010 has partnered with SonicScoop.com to present “Studio Time,” an intensive two-part program focused on music production at New York University’s Kimmel Center.

Open to all CMJ badge holders, “Studio Time” provides emerging artists, engineers and producers with recording and mixing insights and inspiration from expert music creators.

Studio Time’s “Part I: Mix Reconstruction” sees three top mixers taking the audience through their personal mixing process. Each mixer will discuss how they approached and ultimately mixed a song from their discography, playing pre- and post-mix examples to illustrate how they work. Basic techniques and creative solutions will all be examined in this illuminating event.
