Independent Hip Hop Artist Gates just released a new mixtape titled CookUp Season 2. The new record features remixes and hot tracks by various artists in the music industry.
Gates is looking forward to sharing the on-stage experience with fans.
“The ultimate goal for me is to get my music out to the public in a manner when I can do tours and really get up close and personal with my fan base,” said Gates. ” I really think the greatest measure of the artist/fan relationship happens on stage.
“This is where they can get the full 360 degree experience of the music.”
The Secret Handshake (Luis Dubuc) is gearing up to release his sixth studio album, Night & Day August 17th, 2010 on Triple Crown Records and is currently on tour playing new songs from the upcoming release. The first single “Domino” is available today for free download via Facebook here: http://bit.ly/aBsjB1.
It is an album title that truly signposts a major sea change. Night & Day holds fast to its title’s pronouncement of seemingly polar opposites. The gripping melodies are still firmly in place, but that’s where the similarities between Dubuc’s back catalog and his latest creation end.
For the past several years, Dubuc and his fusion of sugary pop hooks, laid atop a host of samples and caked with computer-enhanced effects, created the signature electronic-pop sound that landed him the sort of success that many artists in indie circuits could only wish for.

For a limited time, Klay is offering a free download of the radio edited version of the “Mungabunga” track to fans, media and radio.
Raised in the 60s by free-spirited artists living like gypsies in picturesque locations like Cheyene Walk, Chelsea or Cornwall, Klay D-C (AKA Klay Dumas-Copas) is a master of creating musical tapestries that are full of flavor and life. His latest solo release, Ritmo, is a magical musical journey that combines technical prowess with an ear for colorful melodies.
A natural story-teller, the first track, “Mungabunga,” introduces us to a soft acoustic piano before blossoming into a wiggy, upbeat number garnished with salsa rhythms. The totally unexpected arrangement dances between the acoustic piano and electric instruments (guitar and bass) in a melodic tease that excites and intoxicates.

VerbicideMagazine.com is the online successor to the print magazine Verbicide, an independent entertainment periodical co-published via Scissor Press by founding editor Jackson Ellis and creative director Nathaniel Pollard, according to their website.
Washington Square Park have released their first single off their debut album (due out June 22nd) as a free download. Yes, free! Click here for ”No Medication,” download it.
Washington Square Park is a punk rock band hailing from Northern New Jersey that is already stirring up noise all up and down the East Coast.
For fans of The Movielife and Jimmy Eat World, Washington Square Park has the goods to be the breakout band of the summer.
After dropping out of high school and drumming for the band Tourmaline for 5 years, Max Rauch started the one man side project known as Washington Square Park.
I read an article on Billboard.com [awhile] ago which said that Coldplay is going to give away their live CD “leftrightleftrightleft” to all fans attending its Viva La Vida summer tour. Brilliant!
“Playing live is what we love,” says Coldplay. Exactly! It should be. Surely, a day doesn’t go by where you don’t hear about how you should be giving away free music, right? You should be. As I’ve mentioned before, music as a product doesn’t have much value anymore because it’s too common. It’s basic supply and demand.
Ok, so now, instead of hoping in earnest that somebody buys your tracks, you should be hoping that as many of them as possible download them for free. But does that mean you’ll make a penny off of your free downloads down the road? Well, it depends. Coldplay does. And they’re making lots of it. So why can’t you?
Brooklyn indie-popsters Xylos are thrilled to announce a handful of dates this December with NYC’s Lissy Trullie. Kindred musical compatriots driven by some serious girl power, the bands are teaming up for shows in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. (dates below).
Xylos recently finished recording their debut LP with producer Britt Myers (Chairlift, Yeasayer), with the first single (“Not Enough”) due out in early December.
The debut album is the follow up to the band’s debut EP Bedrooms.
Who: Jimme Coccaro has been busting his bananas as the sole proprietor in Oceanside New York’s acoustic pop outfit Sunday Night Scene. Quickly making a name for himself in the Northeast, Jimme has shared the stage with the likes of All Time Low, Cartel, A Rocket Summer, and Valencia. After tackling his first headlining national tour this summer, Florida’s very own Chamberlain Records soon came knocking and inked a record deal.
What: With all the cards stacked in their favor, Sunday Night Scene is prepped and ready to hit the road in support of their newest album “America’s Playmate” out now on Chamberlain Records.
“With needle-in-the-red electronics and unbridled orchestration, Dada Bandits-the new album (on Fullsteam) from Finnish four-piece Rubik-steals from no one but evokes our favorite pop-art masters: the Flaming Lips, New Pornographers and Jackson Pollock, to name a few. Dada Bandits might be the brightest bit of indie rock to come out of Finland yet, a bombastic album that mothballs the reindeer sweaters in favor of some space-age Sgt. Pepper duds. Rubik singer Artturi Taira made MAGNET a mix tape of cosmic-rock standbys and local favorites.”
While TV On The Radio remains on hiatus, its members stay fully busy. A couple days ago FADER TV talked to Kyp Malone about his Rain Machine solo project; last Saturday, Tunde Adebimpe hosted the Radio Happy Hour variety show in Manhattan; Dave Sitek is probably producing the next pop masterpiece; and Gerard Smith and Jaleel Bunton both jump on this new song from malleable Brooklyn group Midnight Masses.
Smith produced it and Bunton lends his as-yet-unheard spectral vocal chords, and both leave no doubt that TVOTR is much more than its three most visible members.
Straylight Run has had their EP, Un Mas Dos, available for download at no cost at all to their fans.
“Yes it’s true,” the band stated on a Myspace bulletin.”You may have seen it mentioned on absolute punk or c-span that this week we are letting you download our digital EP “UN MAS DOS” for FREE!
“Only a few days left so go enjoy some guilt-free legal downloading.”
The indie band will be kicking off their tour in October.
John Nolan (vocals/guitar), Shaun Cooper (bass), and Will Noon (drums), take a fresh and earth conscious approach in support of their EP release About Time.
