Security has never been the number 1 issue for an independent band when they gear up to tour. Unfortunately, I have seen many cases reported by bands who are currently on tour.
To make things worse, it is hard for local police to find a motive, or even investigate the events, because bands are usually trying to leave for their next gig.
Indie band, I Am Empire, have been the latest victims of theft when their van was vandalized and personal possessions were taken as they were eating lunch.
“We were literally eating lunch inside a little sandwhich place 20 yards from our van and trailor, said Eric Martin who is the drummer for I Am Empire. ”From the inside of the restaurant, you couldn’t see the van.”
The San Jose, Calif. based quintent has opened eyes and ears with their latest self-titled release. Already making noise with their first single, “You’re A Fake”, the band has hit the radio airwaves and have been touring in support of the album.
The album is filled with sing-along tracks that will have fans screaming lyrics during live shows.
I Am Empire’s intro track, “Encompass”, sets the stage with an in your face guitar riff and trascends into an all-around rock track that will keep the lyric, “We are the lost and found…” in your head for days.
As mentioned, “You’re A Fake”, blazes out of the speakers with lead guitar picking accompanied by a solid riff, which leads into the lyric, “Get up, Get up!!”. This song has just began to break out the band, and has lasting power.

Check out the band as they promote and sell their self-titled album on tour. The official CD release party will be at the Saratoga Rec Center in San Jose, Calif. on May 9th. For more information about the band and tour visit www.myspace.com/iamempirerock.
