What is Music Xray Doing for Indie Artists?

If your goal is to sign with a major label, get music licensing deals or try to receive a production contract then Music Xray is an outlet that can help you.

Since officially launching in January of this year, Music Xray has helped artists get their music licensed on CBS, get signed to record deals, production deals and more. Be sure to check the success stories section of the site for a few of the deals we hear about.

Music Xray does not pre-screen your music. You submit directly to the professionals listed on the site. You are guaranteed that they listen and you receive confirmation when they do. Music Xray does not take a cut of your deals.

Indie Artists: Keep Your Social Media Profiles Unified

We receive many submissions from independent artists and bands who want to be featured, but they leave out important information about their projects. So we research their website, blogs and social media profiles to see if we can put the missing pieces together in a timely matter.

Unfortunately, we regularly find that bands are inconsistent with updating their social network accounts. Their websites offer outdated information or just don’t offer the basic information a fan or news/feature writer would be looking for.

Running a band is like a business and keeping your marketing cohesive is important to your exposure.

Supernova.com Offers Marketplace for Indie Music

Independent bands and artists can now sell their digital music at the Supernova Store at Supernova.com via the partnership with Pay Who You Want Online (PWYWO). This move gives indie artists a marketplace to help sell and promote their music while contributing to charity.

Supernova aspires to help fans buy music directly in support of their favorite artists and help support a charity, according to the site.

PWYWO is a one of a kind service where fans can either give money to the artists and the affiliate charities. The innovative company is known for offering artists more proceeds than any other online music store.

Did You Waste Money on a Customized Myspace Profile?

Unfortunately, many bands have relied on social networks to be their hub for information, instead of purchasing a website. One of the popular strategies I’ve seen is buying a URL and directing it to a customized Myspace profile.  Are you one of these cases? Well say good-bye to your layout.

Myspace has sent out an email notifying artists that their profiles will be upgraded to their new theme. All profiles will be upgraded by Nov. 29, 2010. I like how they sugar-coat it with encouraging statistics.

Over a million artists have already upgraded and seen increased engagement around song plays, video plays, photo views — all the things that are important to you. We’re now going to be upgrading ALL artists on Myspace to the new profile over the coming weeks.

Thanks for the warm notice Myspace, but what about the artists who paid to have their profiles customized? It seems like they are left out in the cold on this move.  What happens if you don’t upgrade your page?

Songwriter Jerry Joseph and Drummer Wally Ingram Release First Collaborative Album, Civility

Indie artists, Jerry Joseph and Wally Ingram have just released, Civility, their first record together as a duo. Civility is an intimate acoustic album that includes a couple new Joseph penned originals as well as a couple fan favorites that have been previously recorded by some of his other projects. Joseph a voracious consumer of new music also includes a couple covers that might be surprising to those who aren’t aware of his eclectic musical taste.

Joseph’s appeal has always been his accessibility, his raw and powerful lyrics and his ability to keep it fresh with new musical outlets. Civility is no exception as Joseph’s rich voice and storytelling really shine on it, exposing increasingly humble lyrics and a redemptive tone that comes with years of touring.
